Collect my Glass. Support McColl Center for Art + Innovation!

Collect my glass (& art by other amazing McColl Center alumni) at upcoming McColl Center for Art + Innovation’s Studio Party 17 on Saturday, February 25, 2017, from 7-11pm. McColl Center always throw a mean party – it’s worth the admission price to get a spot at their annual festive fundraiser! All ticket proceeds and half of art sales go to support their extensive programming and artist residencies. (Anyone buying my glass by the end of event, I will add a short message on back of piece.)   Share...

What’s been happening in 2016?

What’s been happening in 2016?

It’s been a while. Here’s what I’ve been up to… Like many artists, I’m a team of one – with too many tasks & not enough time. This year has been filled with cool experiences, good changes (some painful), plus gleaning, organizing, purging, and tweaking nearly every area of my life — which, honestly, makes this Virgo very happy:) ___________________________________________________________ . 2016: What a Year! Most significant is my two week glass blowing experience with master glass artist Brian Corr in August at Penland School of Crafts. My very first time @ Penland & glassblowing…and what a first time it was!! I am not set up for glassblowing in my own studio, but so many possibilities have opened up. (Recently visited STARworks for hot glass, cold beer night. In 2017, I’ll be heading back to play.) ___________________________________________________________ . This fall, I’ve been working on a private glass commission for a local business celebrating 20 years!! And, I have a smaller exterior public art commission (in Charlotte) starting in January 2017! (More about these later.) ___________________________________________________________ . Where can you find my handmade art glass? Anytime, my art glass is now at Coffey & Thompson Gallery, in Charlotte, NC. (Has a new owner, business direction, & new location at 1200 S Graham St.) We’ll be part of South End Small Business Saturday on November 26 from 10am to 2pm. Come out to get a gift for yourself or someone else… or some inspiration, maybe see what’s happening in South End area closest to the Panthers’ stadium. The following week will be the C&TG opening reception for our small works for the holidays show. That reception is Friday, December 2, from 6 to 9 PM. ___________________________________________________________ . January 2017: Earth, Wind & Fire, a group show with me, Chris Craft, Debbie Rasberry, and Regina Burchett at Clearwater Artist Studios, in Concord, NC. ___________________________________________________________ . February 25, 2017: Invited artist to McColl Center for Art + Innovation’s big annual fundraising event, Studio Party 17. ___________________________________________________________ . Also coming in 2017: 1) NEW website is in the works!! (Basically, this WordPress site is not easy to maintain and still looks funky after working on layout:( I lost “Constant Contact” mailing list button awhile back with no notice… & it’s not an easy fix!! Also, way too many problems uploading my images to this site. Therefore, new website is coming soon:) ___________________________________________________________ . 2) Finally, most of you know I love the business end of things too! I’m currently venturing into a big project that will solve some basic problems for artists. In a nutshell, it’s an artist’s digital assistant. Want to be on THAT mailing list to find out more? Email me & I’ll add you:) Share...

New Glass @ Union Shop Studio May 21 & 22, 2016

New Glass @ Union Shop Studio May 21 & 22, 2016

So, I get asked a lot “Where can I see your glass?” Truth is — right now — I work alone in my glass studio or am “crafting” public art pitches & other applications mostly. (More soon.) But, you CAN see my new glass — and get some deals on unsold older work — on Friday, May 20 (from 6-8pm) and Saturday, May 21 (from 11am-3pm)… Where? At Union Shop Studio at 5019 Wilkinson Blvd. in Charlotte, NC. (Easy to find, not far from Morehead St. and close to airport). Plenty of free parking. Studios are at top of parking lot, last door on left. My artist husband (Chris Craft) and I share a small studio there. Along with other studio artists, we’ll have new work in gallery area, as well as tasty refreshments. We’ll be sharing how we make our art, our inspirations & what’s next?! (If these times don’t work for you, reach out. I am happy to make other arrangements. carmella@carmellajarvi.com:)     Share...
