Jarvi’s work is all about water. Her first painting love was watercolor, and during her 2-week summer residency at The Hambidge Center, she began painting again. But, it was during her McColl Center 2019 AiR when she had the time and space to paint a lot. This pair was created at the end of Jarvi’s 2019 Atrium Health AiR in her McColl Center studio. They capture the spontaneity of watercolor on paper. These abstract, water-inspired works were painted while artist stands over them — paper is laying flat on floor. They are physical, gestural, full-body paintings… and similar to artists’ water glasswork.
